War Animals The Unsung Heroes of World War II Robin Hutton 9781621576587 Books Reviews

  • I loved the stories about so many different animals involved in World War II. I wish my dad were still alive. He served in WWII and always took care of dogs. He was very compassionate with dogs. Highly recommend this read!
  • This is an excellent record of how the Animal Corps of the military was developed. And, the depictions of the service of individual dogs, pigeons, horses, and a cat speaks volumes of the unlimited skills, commitment to duty, and devotion to their human partners. It has to defy any attitudes of "Well, it's just rote training of a dumb animal." I have never had any problem with accepting that animals have the ability to think and that they can show emotion. There are very many testimonies in the book to support such a view.
  • I had not heard of the help dogs had done during WW2, the pigeons yes. The love of dogs had me interested in their story, I was not disappointed. Their stories are heart warming and in some cases tearful.
  • Not really a story, but a lot of information. I did learn a lot to but was kind of boring for the most part
  • THE BOOK IS VERY INFORMATIVE.
  • Lots of great stories of animals doing their part in wartime.
  • This is a part of WWII I did not know. Citizens and animals contributed so much to the war effort.
  • It's a great book to read. Love the history. It gives great details of the War that I did not even know. It is a book you read more than once.
